“I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’…Listen to the American people, because the American people are roaring right now…They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending…” Michele Bachmann
How many warnings do you think you’re going to get, and how many warnings do you deserve? This hurricane that is coming thorough the East Coast, for anyone who’s in the East Coast and has been listening to me say ‘Food storage!’ ‘Be prepared!’…If you’ve waited, this hurricane is a blessing. It is a blessing. It is God reminding you — as was the earthquake last week — it’s God reminding you you’re not in control.” Glenn Beck
I’ve read a great number of fantasy novels. Around this time, the shaman or cleric or monk or priest stands in the village square and says something to the effect of “We have gone against the Old Gods. The gods of earth and water and wind are angry with us for forgetting the old ways.we must hew close to the teachings to appease the Old Gods lest they unleash plagues and pestilence upon us.”
That’s around the time that the king’s only daughter is selected for sacrifice. Then, the barbarian must go on a quest to retrieve the ancient relics to defeat the Old Gods. He usually meets up with a sorceress and a cutpurse.
But here’s the thing:
IT’S A WORK OF FICTION!
If the Fundies want to go down this path, they should have to go all in on this. I would respect Bachmann if she then proposed human sacrifice to appease her angry god.
I nominate former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for this quest.
