For starters, it’s horribly simplistic. The inclusion of Superman Blue to depict a point in Superman history is, at least in my opinion, wrong. Yes, it was a part of the terrible 90’s Superman. But more often than not, that era is best depicted by Superman’s shaggy mulleted mane.</p> <p>Making matters worse, however, is the slap in the face of comic book artists that NYT delivered with a flat paper doll-like system instead of instances of the <strong>actual art</strong>. </p> <p>The <em>Times</em> wouldn’t do that to showcase the development of a painter’s style over the years. And to top it all off, a Mexican mayor introduced him.</p> <p>Everyone else sees the American success story. An American-born man, descended from immigrants seeking a better life and going to America to find it. And that man introduces a child not unlike himself. An American-born boy, descended from immigrants who came to America to find a better life.  His parents are seeing their dream in him. Because he isn’t singing <em>the </em>National Anthem. He’s singing <em>his </em>national anthem.
